The atomic air centrifugal compressor is a new plant in Romania that equips high-power industrial gas turbines used in power generation to reduce the emissions generated by these turbines.
Such a compressor takes 2 ... 3% of the compressed air flow from the gas turbine compressor and raises the pressure with a compression ratio of about 1.5. This over-pressurized air flow is introduced into the injectors of the gas turbine combustion chamber increasing the degree of atomization of the injected liquid fuel which results in improved combustion and a significant decrease in combustion nobles, the level of these noxes being within the norms of American and European environment.

The result of the project completion is the commencement of the production of the CENTRIFUGAL AIR COMPRESSOR FOR ATOMIZATION, for which there is an export request and which will have parameters according to the request expressed in advance by the external customer, as follows:

  • Type of compressed gas: air
  • Input pressure: 178 psia (12.27 bar)
  • Compression ratio: 1.5
  • Driving speed: 6600 rpm
  • Flow: 5.9 pps (2.67 kg / sec)
  • Inlet temperature: 225 g F (107.22 ° C)
Compressor type : Centrifugally, in a single step, with a speed multiplier. The training is done through a gas turbine transmission via a coupling, which is provided by the external customer.
Within the project, the following main activities were carried out:
  • Gas-mathematical mathematical modeling, rotor and stator rotation determination, and functional design to optimize the compression cycle according to customer requirements;
  • Execution and Technology Documentation for the Functional Model,
  • Design and execution of the test bench, including parameter measurement equipment;
  • Execution of component parts and fitting of functional model and prototype;
  • Experimenting, Standing Standards, and Certification of the Functional Model and Prototype.
